Writing East Midlands

Just a short post to appeal to all my fellow UK-based writers! Do I have your attention? Good!

Last November I attended an event called Alt.Fiction in Derby (which is occurring again this November). This was organised by Writing East Midlands (WEM) and headed by a group of lovely, friendly people who work tirelessly to promote literary work, both accomplished and upcoming.

They set up regular events that take place in numerous locations – ranging from workshops, readings, writing weekends in hotels, etc. at reasonable prices for what they are! 🙂

I am thinking of attending the Alt.Fiction – Other Worlds event this November again but we shall see. Anyone who wants to come along are more than welcome – just have a look at nearer the time to pre-book your tickets.

Writing East Midlands can be found at where you can click the relevant links to follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Flickr.

Happy Writing!

The Works of Rebecca Clare Smith

Hello everyone,

I know I haven’t posted in a long, long time so first of all my apologies to anyone that missed me 😛

I am posting today to promote another aspiring writer with whom I have been conversing with via Twitter and Facebook – Rebecca Clare Smith. She is an upcoming writer who is as pleasant as they come. She is from North Yorkshire in the UK and writes some interesting and entertaining pieces – two examples are on her Blogspot journal ( which you can view for free. They are called “The Leaking Manuscript” and “Time Could Have Stopped & Nobody Would Have Noticed”.

If you want to know more about this lovely woman then I suggest you look at her Twitter (!/jocastalizzbeth), her Facebook fan page ( as well as her site (!__home).

I know the links are long but it’s only a blog post 😛

Please lend her your literary support for she is worth it!
